Books, Art and Writing ... Oh My!

Monday, August 13, 2007, 04:44 PM CST [General]

Got back too long ago from the hospital. Dad's doing ok. The stint went well and he is in a room now. This is the last stint he will receive and if things don't improve he will be in talks about open heart surgery next. If you have spare any prayers and thoughts, they are always welcome.

While in town, I visited the library there, which I haven't done in years. I got around 11 books.

    1. The Way of the Wizard by Deepak Chopra
    2. The Greener Shore by Morgan Llewellyn
    3. The Celts by Gerard Herm
    4.  The Celts: Conquerors of Ancient Europe by Christine Eluére
    5. The Celtic Empire by Peter Beresford Ellis
    6. The Druids by Stuart Piggot
    7. The Real Camelot: Paganism and the Arthurian Romances by John Darrah
    8. How the Irish Saved Civilization by Thomas Cahill
    9. From Mist and Stone: The History and Lore of the Celts and Vikings by George W. Stone
    10. Celtic Warriors by Dáithí Ó hÓgáin
    11. Heroes of the Dawn: Celtic Myth (Time Life Books)

So I have a lot to keep me busy along with tons of new books that have come in for review and I also bought a used copy of The Encyclopedia of Celtic Wisdom by John & Caitlin Matthews. I'm excited about meeting Ellen Dugan in September. I've read three of her books so far, and I really liked Natural Witchery. From what I hear about the new store she is coming too, it sounds fantastic!

In movie news: I'm dying to see Becoming Jane but no theater around here is playing it. :( Pride and Prejudice is sadly my only Austen fix, no movie store has Mansfield Park on DVD and BBC hasn't shown Persuasion in a while. Bah. The Number 23 is brilliant, so do rent it people. Jim Carrey really impressed me.

In writing news: I've moved a bit forward in the vampire novel I am writing. I've had lots of new ideas lately and a certain actor has inspired a new character's look so woo. My Druid novel has sort of taking a break right now and so have my three non-fiction works. I seriously take on too much at once.

In art news: I may be moving my art show since I will be in Birmingham that day to see Ellen (and I'm running low on the money for prints), so stay tuned for more.

Ok, I need to get running so I can do some cleaning and get some reading done. Ciao!

    Life Updates

Saturday, August 4, 2007, 07:21 AM CST [General]

Sorry it's been so long since I gave anyone an update. Things have been crazy here and I've been so busy.

Dad is doing better, (for those who don't know, he was in the hospital for a week in June) he had a doc appt last week and we found out that he had had two heart attacks in May. They are still in talks as to whether to use stints or to have open heart surgery. So, please keep him in your prayers.

I'm busy getting ready for my art show in September, the upcoming chakra class I will be teaching at Sacred Paths, my online school, Grove of Dana assignments, Irish Gaelic lessons, setting up the new online Grove with some fellow seekers, and tons more. I'm hoping to have a photoshoot done soon for my official website and etcetera since I have so much going on self-portraits don't cut it lol.

I'm really looking for some design business so please contact me for book designs, web site designs, business card designs, cd cover designs and anything else!!

Okay, well more later. I'm at work right now so I reckon I ought to be ... working ;)

    Checking In

Saturday, May 5, 2007, 08:21 AM CST [General]

Sorry I haven't been around much. At the current moment I am at work, with a massive stomach ache. Bah, wish I could go home but the head librarian is on vacation and I'm the only library assistant so I have to be here. Normally, I wouldn't care, in fact I was really excited but that was before I woke up this morning feeling like an alien was trying to bore a hole through my abdomen. I can just imagine how Sigorney Weaver felt. :(

Tomorrow I am celebrating Beltane with some friends. I've already celebrated it myself, both on the 1st and 2nd. On the 1st, I spent some time outside at night walking through the dark with only the gorgeous moonlight for company. I sang the forest a song and sat with the moon awhile. The next day I had a solo bonfire and walked around it three times for luck. I would have jumped it but ... it's one of those fire pits you buy from Wal-Mart and it's a little too wide for my Hobbit legs to jump lol. So I walked instead. It was a great night. The bats came out to see me and I had a blue jay who landed near me and the fire and chirpped. It was a great evening. Just me and Spirit.

Jess, Morgayn and I are heading to Huntsville on Monday. I've very excited :) So I will write more on Tuesday probably. Namarie!

    New job and etc

Friday, April 13, 2007, 12:04 PM CST [General]

Things have been so-so lately. Nothing horrible but nothing overly fantastic either lol. I'm attending a PowWow next Friday so I will have some photos and etc to share.

I got an awesome interview with singer-songwriter Jen Woodhouse last week, so I will post a link as soon as my editor gets it approved, but do check her out, she is wonderful! www.myspace.com/jenwoodhouse

So let's see, what else in the news ... ah yes, I got a parttime position at the local library as the library assistant so that's good. Hopefully it will be a position that grows in time. My writing is going good, I am spending this weekend working on new articles and I have the outline done on a Faery Magick book I am writing. Now to contact Janice at Red Wheel about sending it to them :)

I finally cracked Eragon open and so far I am loving it. I had seen the movie and tried about two years ago to read the book but it didn't grab me like other books, so I set it aside. Aside from that, I am still working on By Oak, Ash and Thorn by DJ Conway and two of Edain's Celtic books. I am one of those people that can do multiple books ;)

Ok, I am off ... Jess seems to think my constant writing has caused to me to become long-winded in all my writing endeavors ;)

    I'm still here :)

Wednesday, March 7, 2007, 10:44 PM CST [General]

Sorry for not posting in a while. I was working 10-12 hours a day at Dad's office and then coming home and wanting to do nothing else but sleep so I haven't been online except for a tiny bit this past Saturday. I've just been worn the heck out, but in the end it was worth it. I have my car payment covered this month so I am excited about that.

Things have been really good lately. I've been thinking a lot more positive and I can see the changes. Bah, I would write more but I am insanely sleepy and I have to be yup early to accompany my mother to the doctor. Namaste :)
